“IROICA” in Greek means “the act of
heroism”! |
IROICA is a European network of international relations officers at Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in agricultural and related sciences. It was created in 1997 as an activity within the ”DEMETER” Socrates Thematic Network which has been renamed “AFANet” (Thematic Network for Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture and the Environment). In 1998 IROICA became a Standing Committee within ICA. Today IROICA has the status of a non-profit international association with its own statutes.
IROICA furthers and supports the work of the international relations officers of the various member institutions of the network. This includes:
· Promoting international co-operative activities of their institutions
· Promoting and supporting international activities for undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate students and for academic and administrative staff of their institutions
· Providing a pool of information about important developments in the field of international higher education
· Providing guidance for newly established international offices in relation to their overall profile and their principle tasks
· Providing professional development for staff members in international offices
· Promoting quality and high standing in its individual activities, which shall be guided by a spirit of openness, human rights and democracy.
